About Me

After forty years with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, I begin 2017 by retiring and getting ready for a through-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Gnarly, Stubby, and Gimpy are three injuries I had during 2014. My wife tells me that I do not need any more dwarves in my entourage. It has long been a desire of mine to do a through hike of the PCT. I have section-hiked all of Washington and the northern third of Oregon. I am excited for this next adventure, and to be sure, this won’t be the last one. To say that hiking is a passion in my life is an understatement, but other passions include studying the Bible, baseball, and New Mexican Cooking. With that in mind, I am trying to mix New Mexican cooking into my trail meals. More about that later.
